
Overview
In partnership with Trinity Health Of New England, Walgreens, The Aurora Foundation, and the Green & Blue Foundation, Hartford Athletic hosted the inaugural #Changemakers Forum on Saturday, July 24th at Dillon Stadium. The event featured a panel discussion featuring Nicole Briscoe (ESPN), Sonserae Cicero (Walgreens), Jacquelyn Santiago (Compass Youth Collaborative), and Sabrina Tucker-Barrett (Girls For Technology) followed by structured networking, and then the Hartford Athletic match at 7pm.
The #Changemakers Women’s Leadership Forum focused on the United Nations Global Goal #10, Reduced Inequalities, with panels, guided discussion and networking opportunities. The event also kicked off Hartford Athletic’s mentorship series in partnership with the United Nations Global Goals team. The panel discussed questions and topics revolving around our Global Goal of Reduced Inequalities.

Registration
$50 per person or $360 for table of 8 ($45 per person). All registrants receive a ticket to July 24th Hartford Athletic vs. Miami FC match following the conclusion of the event. Attendees will also receive a special gift bag.
Kids Zone: Registration also includes an option to purchase a discounted ticket for your kids and family members. Kids will be able to participate in fun games and will be supervised by Hartford Athletic staff while you attend the Forum. Once the event concludes, the whole family will then go to your seats together to enjoy the match.
Panelists

NICOLE BRISCOE (Sportscenter anchor, espn)
Nicole Briscoe became a SportsCenter anchor and studio show host in early 2015 after working in various roles in ESPN’s NASCAR coverage from 2008-2014. She often co-anchors the 7 a.m. ET edition with Randy Scott. Briscoe also has contributed to X Games coverage as a host and reporter and filled in as host on several ESPN Radio programs. She also served as host for ABC’s telecast of the Indianapolis 500 in 2018. She was host of the pre-race NASCAR Countdown program from 2011-2014, and a host and reporter for the news program NASCAR Now from 2008-2014, before ESPN’s coverage of live NASCAR races came to an end at the conclusion of the 2014 season. She joined ESPN in 2008 as Nicole Manske, prior to her 2009 marriage to racing driver Ryan Briscoe, who at the time raced in the IndyCar Series and now competes in sports car racing. Before coming to ESPN, Briscoe worked for two years as co-host of a motorsports news program on the SPEED Channel. Previously, she was a sports reporter at WISH-TV, the CBS affiliate in Indianapolis, where she was first exposed to auto racing through covering the Indianapolis 500. She also covered the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers and college basketball in her first on-air sports position. She later worked as a pit reporter for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network on the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400 as well as IndyCar Series race broadcasts before joining SPEED in July, 2006. Briscoe started her TV career as a general assignment reporter at WREX-TV, the NBC affiliate in Rockford, Ill., near her hometown of Roscoe, Ill., while still in college in 1999 at Northern Illinois University. She also worked as a weekend news and weather anchor and producer. She became a news reporter and fill-in anchor in September, 2001, for WANE-TV, the CBS affiliate in Ft. Wayne, Ind., before moving to Indianapolis in April, 2004. Briscoe is an avid runner and has competed in multiple running events around the country.

Sonserae Cicero (Manager of Human Resources, Walgreens)
Sonserae Cicero is a business relationship professional with an edge for creating distinctive connections throughout various platforms of diversity and inclusion. Her background in Human Resources coupled with a graduate’s degree in HR and Labor Relations from the University of New Haven has shaped her journey in the strategic advancement of workforce diversity, talent development, cultural change management, workplace inclusion, and leadership transformation. She has led diverse work teams across the country focused on improving talent development and transformation for large organizations with portfolios in excess of $100+ billion. Amongst her accomplishments, Ms. Cicero works with various re-entry programs in pursuit of fair employment opportunities for individuals who were justice involved with blemished backgrounds. She is a board of trustee member for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hartford, an advisory board member for Goodwin College Supply Chain and Manufacturing program, as well as a business relationship and brand ambassador for the Society of Human Engagement and Business Alignment. Sonserae is currently the Chair of the Women of Walgreens Boots Alliance in the US for the supply chain and supports their diversity and development initiatives across the country. In addition to other accomplishments, the NAACP recognized her as one of Connecticut’s 100 most influential individuals of color in 2018. In March of 2021, Sonserae received an inspiration award for International Women’s Day from US Women of WBA – Business Resource Group for the work she and her supply chain field champions are doing across the country.

Jacquelyn Santiago (CEO, COMPASS Youth Collaborative)
Jacquelyn Santiago is Chief Executive Officer at COMPASS Youth Collaborative, Inc. “Youth are my inspiration and my deepest desire is to see them thrive in our communities” is how Jacquelyn (Jackie) Santiago describes her motivation for helping youth succeed. She is a champion for youth equity, a dynamic youth development trainer, and an advocate for youth at risk. The former Chief Operating Officer for COMPASS, Ms. Santiago played an increasingly important role creating and developing after-school programs, creating comprehensive school day supports for schools, and creating impactful outreach and crisis intervention programs for youth at risk. Ms. Santiago received her BA from Trinity College, in Hartford, and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in nonprofit leadership. She began her career as an education organizer at Hartford Areas Rally Together before joining COMPASS in 2001. She is bilingual (English/Spanish) and has one son. In 2015, Jackie was awarded the Hartford Business Journal’s “40 under 40” award and, in 2017, their “100 Women of Color” award. Other recognitions include Hartford’s “Champion for Youth and Leadership Development” award in 2018, the Urban League of Greater Hartford’s “Champion of Justice Award” in 2019, and Trinity College’s “50 for the Next 50 Award.”

Sabrina M. Tucker-Barrett (CEO, Girls For Technology)
Sabrina M. Tucker-Barrett is one who embodies delivering servant-leadership, particularly in the areas of education, technology, and the growth of local ecosystems for entrepreneurs of color. Hailing from New London, CT, Mrs. Tucker-Barrett is the Co-Founder and President of Girls For Technology, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to equipping the next generation of historically disadvantaged populations to make a difference in the STEM arena. Having over a decade of public and private sector work and leadership experience plus a B.A. in Healthcare Administration from Charter Oak State College, Mrs. Tucker-Barrett navigated the trenches of being both an African-American and a woman in corporate America. Her experiences taught her what was lacking and inspired her to be forward-thinking in her approach to help others navigate the professional realm. Since Girls For Technology’s inception in 2015 Tucker-Barrett has raised over $2.5 million in grant, foundation, corporate and state support. Due to her tireless efforts to serve others, Sabrina has received numerous professional accolades including being acknowledged by the Obama Administration’s White House Council on Women & Girls in recognition of her work on Inclusiveness in STEM Education for Youth of Color, and given honors by The Networks Journals 40 Under 40, 100 Women of Color, Connecticut Entrepreneurs and the Capital Community College – Barack Obama Awards. In addition to serving her community full-time through Girls of Technology, Inc. Barrett currently serves on the Board of Directors of LAUNCH formerly known as Innovation Places, Governor’s Council on Women & Girls, and the Advisory Committee for the National Center for Women & Information Technology- Connecticut Chapter.
